Editor’s Note: Senior Correspondent Gary Kramer reports on the growing number of operators offering hunts for geese and ptarmigan in the Land of Fire and Ice Iceland was known worldwide for its quality Atlantic salmon fishing by the 1980s but was virtually unknown to American wingshooters.

European shooters had been traveling there for years for the goose, duck and ptarmigan shooting this North Atlantic nation offered. In 1990, I was among the first Americans to investigate wingshooting in Iceland. Since then waterfowl and ptarmigan hunting in Iceland has come of age, and today at least four outfitters offer shooting packages...
